How To Change Screen Size On Philips Tv Without Remote

  • #one

My brother gave me the Philips 32PW9551 Cineos Widescreen CRT television set.
Unfortunately I do not possess the remote.

By clicking two buttons on the correct side of the TV simultaneously I managed to open up the carte which

allows the setup of basic functions.

The problem:

All channels jump to superzoom mode.
Also, my brother mentioned that he fiddled with some overscan settings.

Is there a way to reset/change these (advanced?) settings without the remote?

My UPC remote accepts universal remote codes simply I was unable to find ane for this Tv set (which allows

for more bones control).

The Philips helpdesk suggested ownership a new remote but I hope y'all might exist able to provide an

alternative :)

Thank you in advance!

If he has merely switched the film mode to one of the zoom or "SuperWide Zoom" modes you tin can but adjust these with the remote.
Sometimes universal remotes like your URC can admission these secondary controls past pressing a combination of buttons or pressing one button followed by another.
if the URC lawmaking no was say 351 yous would lookup a tabular array at the back of the URC user manual and see what other functions could be accessed.
If he has accessed the service menu and mis-adjusted a few items that's a dissimilar kettle of fish altogether.

Cheers for your reply.

So to summarize information technology, if I practice non have a proper remote I am unable to change those (advanced) settings?

Why make a TV so depended on a remote...
Thanks for the help anyways!

I borrowed a remote and accessed the advanced settings.

Disabling the superzoom showed the fiddling my brother referred to, a Exam image clearly shows that the image is over/underscanned.

The red in the post-obit motion-picture show is what is shown. The Telly is set in four:3 format (so nore more zoom) just the widescreen is probably due to the settings in the UPC DVR.

There is an pick to change 'geometry' and 'RGB-allignment'.

Both have many settings which make me inquire you which one should be changed.

Vertical height (or size) and horizontal width.

  • #6

I understand that there should be alterations to width/pinnacle just there are many options:

I tried the following settings (in geometry):

5 slope: 38
V shift: 36
V amplitude: 25
V S-corr: 28
H shift: 28
H amplitude: 10
East/Due west parabola: 22
upper east/westward corner: 21
Lower east/due west corner: 13
E/West trapezium: 28
Horizontal bow: seven
Horizontal parallelogram: 5

Unfortunately in that location is still some deformation and I am unable to find the default values or a service manual..

Patently I don't know what your brothers twiddled simply the starting point is to make sure the proper option bytes for the model in question are correct...you run across the 8 options to the right of "OP"...at that place is a paper sticker stuck to the rear drinking glass bowl of the crt with the right values printed on it...so you would need to remove the back cover Afterward UNPLUGGING It FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY :lesson: copy the values from the sticker and make sure the pick bytes are the same, if non, modify them.
Thereafter it is but a instance of adjusting the geometry using a testcard, it's a tedious laborious process and you'll never go information technology completely directly but you should exist able to get it acceptable.
As a starting indicate H-Amplitude = width and V-Amplitude = height.

I besides used the rotation selection in the main carte and managed to get it fairly direct now.

I didn't realize the settings were unique per TV.

Thank you for your fourth dimension and assist

For future reference I'll post some interesting values for those who have the aforementioned issue every bit I did.

I managed to solve it satisfactory.

Nice to hear that yous solved the problem. Does universal remotes dont work on Phillips? was courios.... because i am thinking of buying one....

Universal remotes will work but you lot might miss out on some buttons.

That is no biggy only in my case I needed to enter the service menu by typing 062596i and you do need the 'i' (information?) for that.
